Hirosue Ryoko, born 18 July 1980 in Kochi, Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
Ryoko is an Actress and Pop Star.
She studied at Johoku Junior High School and Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin Senior High School. Then she studied in Waseda University (Department of Japanese Language & Literature), but did not graduate.
In 1994, when Ryoko has 14 years old, she joined the "P&G" cosmetic model competition and made her television debut the following year singing on the program, TK Music Camp.
In 1995 at the age of 15, Ryoko made her television debut in Fuji TV in Drama Heart Ni S.
In 1996, when Ryoko was 16 years old she was named as a "Best Newcomer" at the 10th Television Drama Academy Awards, she also starred in Fuji TV's comedy series drama, Shota no Sushi.
In 1997 she appeared in the finale of medical drama, Hoshi no Kinka and the special episode of Odoru Daisousasen. She starred in great comedy series, Beach Boys , where she was awarded "Best Supporting Actress" at the 14th Television Drama Academy Awards. Ryoko also made her film debut, when she appearded in 20 Century Nostalgia which won her critical acclaim.
In 1998, Hirosue reprised her role in the special episode of Beach Boys while also appearing in other 4 television dramas: Seija no Koushin, Sekai de ichiban papa ga suki, Ai wa Chikyuu wo Suku and The last song.
In 1999, she starred in 2 movies, Poppoya and Himitsu. Her performances in both films won her much praise from award-giving bodies of Japan and she received 2 nominations at the 23rd Japanese Academy Awards for Best Actress (for Himitsu) and Best Supporting Actress (for Poppoya).
She also gave her first concert held at Nippon Budokan.
In year 2000, Hirosue starred as Yuki Katase in great drama Summer Snow, which won 5 awards at the 26th Television Drama Academy Awards including "Best Supporting Actress" and "Best Drama".
In the same year Ryoko, starred in drama Oyaji, where she again was awarded "Best Supporting Actress" at the 27th awards ceremony.
In 2001, Hirosue made her international debut in Luc Besson's movie, Wasabi where she starred with famous French Actor Jean Reno.
In 2002, Ryoko starred in the movie Arita, the television drama Ai Nante Irane Yo Natsu and in the drama series, Otousan.
This year has also released the Album under the title: Hirosue Ryoko Perfect Collection.
In Year 2003, Hirosue starred in drama Moto Kare with Actor Tsuyoshi Domoto (They starred together in drama Summer Snow). For the role in Moto Kare, Hirosue was awarded "Best Supporting Actress" at the 38th Television Drama Academy Awards.
In the same year she starred in film Renai Shashin and she was a guest in 33rd episode of samurai series, Musashi.
When Ryoko has 24 years old, in 2004 on January 17 she married Takahiro Okazawa and gave birth to her son on 10 April 2004. They later divorced in March 2008.
Her marriage and new motherhood decreased her workload when she only made one appearance in 2004 in the film, Hana and Alice, and in 2005's Fuji TV's romance drama, Slow Dance.
In 2006, Hirosue returned to film and television. In this year she starred in 2 movies: Haruka Naru Yakusoku, Ai to Shi wo Mitsumete and in 2 short movies: Presents and Yonimo Kimyona Monogatari "Kyoko-san".
She also starred in special episode of drama, Tokyo Tower.
In 2007, Ryoko starred in the Bubble Fiction: Boom or Bust, Little DJ, Koneko no namida, Mama ga Ryori wo Tsukuru Wake, Long Wedding Road! and she also made a guest appearance in the 3rd episode of detective-mystery series, Galileo.
In the year 2008, Hirosue starred in comedy series, Yasuko to Kenji and in the Movie Okuribito(Departures), which won the 81st Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film.
In 2009 she is starring in the remake of the mystery film Zero Focus and the adaptation to film of the novel Villon's Wife by Osamu Dasai. Ryoko starred also in drama, Triangle and movie Goemon.
